Presented here is an extremely scarce 1956 Jon Arnett University of Southern California senior season game worn football helmet. Arnett was a true Southern California native, growing up in the city and attending USC, and eventually playing for the Los Angeles Rams during his professional days. Arnett was a workhorse who could handle anything on the field. As a sophomore, John led the team in scoring, rushing, pass completion percentage, punt returns, pass interceptions and had a 44.4 yard per punt average for the year. During his Rose Bowl performance, he averaged 12.5 yards per carry, completed 2 passes, and punted for a 61-yard average. As one can see, Arnett was able to do it all on the field and was a stand-out recruit for USC. Offered here is an authentic 1956 USC helmet in excellent condition. The helmet features many scuff marks and significant wear from the game use. The USC colors remain vibrant and a "26" can be read on both sides denoting Arnett's number. The Riddell helmet has been marked on this inside with "7 1/4" denoting its size. The chin strap remains intact and in operating condition. An impressive relic from the 1950s USC football team and their leader, Jon Arnett.
