After no less than seven failed tries, the Brooklyn Dodgers finally won the World Championship in 1955. This Dodger team has gone down in baseball history as one of the game’s greatest--if not statistically, then mythically. This stunning Spalding Official National League Giles ball brings together 21 of Brooklyn’s one and only Championship team. Second-year skipper Walter Alston has signed the sweet spot and he’s joined by fellow Hall of Famers Jackie Robinson, Pee Wee Reese (CH), Duke Snider (CH) and a young Rookie left-hander named Sandy Koufax. Don Zimmer (at this time a promising young infielder), Gil Hodges, and Carl Furillo are also on the ball, along with World Series Game 7 heroes Sandy Amoros (whose incredible 6th inning catch saved the game) and Johnny Podres (whose masterful complete game shutout sealed the title).
The ball comes from the collection of former pitcher Lou Brissie and comes with an LOA from the Brissie family. Reese, Snider, and Roebuck have been deemed clubhouse signed by PSA. Full LOA from PSA/DNA.
