The offered Washington Nationals shirt was worn by reserve catcher Bob Oldis during the 1955 season, his last campaign in Washington in a six-year career that would later include stops in Pittsburgh and Philadelphia. This handsome zippered (working)jersey features "Washington" across the chest in navy blue on red tackle twill. Oldis' No. 9 appears on the back in the same fashion. A "Spalding" manufacturer's label appears on the collar, with "44" and "Set 1 1955" smaller tags attached. The embroidered notation of "Oldis" appears in red stitching on a white felt tag below the Spalding label. A laundering instructions tag appears on the inside of the front-left tail. The shirt exhibits evidence of wear, with no signs of repair or alteration; there are four holes (as tailored) under each arm to facilitate ventilation.
