In 1954, the Chicago White Sox finished with a record 94-60, good enough for third place in the American League, 17 games behind the first place Cleveland Indians. This lot includes the Chicago White Sox game-worn road jersey from that season of catcher Sherm Lollar who earned his first All-Star nod that year. The gray flannel MacGregor jersey (size 44), which shows considerable wear including sweat stains around the collar, includes all the proper tagging including “Set 1 1954” tag located on the inside seam of the right side of the jersey tail. Both his jersey number (“10”) on the back and the team’s city name (“CHICAGO”) on the front are in black on red tackle twill. Lollar’s nameplate is sewn in red into the rear of the interior collar. All seven original gray buttons are intact.
