On April 23, 1953, the Yankees defeated their rival Boston Red Sox by a 6-3 score at Yankee Stadium. Trailing 3-1, the Sox tied the game 3-3 in the top of the 9th inning, only for Yankees icon Mickey Mantle to smack a walk-off 3-run homer in the bottom of the ninth off of Ellis Kinder. This is the only ticket stub from that game to be encapsulated by PSA and deemed a VG/EX 4.
The red/orange-hued ticket stub includes the standard "RAIN CHECK", $1.25 Grandstand Fee, Yankee emblem, and "GAME NO. 5" text placing it as an irrefutable April 23, 1953 Yankees – Red Sox ticket (April 23rd was the 5th home game for the Yankees in 1953). This was the first "walk-off" home run of "The Mick's" iconic career, with the young Yankee superstar rapidly ascending on a career path that would place him among the all-time Yankees greats.
