Great original photograph of the Commerce Comet admiring his famous 565-foot home run bat on dispaly in the hallway of the clubhouse. Photo has a tear on the top edge and there are several creases visible. The Mick's face and the bat are not impacted at all by the surface issues. Image clarity and overall quality are fantastic. The reverse is blank except for a blue ballpoint ink notation, "Mickey Mantle eyes bat he used to hit homer @ Griffith Stad 4/17/1953." To this day, only a 575-foot shot by Babe Ruth in 1921 is believed to have traveled farther than Mickey's legendary blast in D.C.
