Featured here is a classic PSA/DNA Type 1 portrait of the great Ted Williams in his Red Sox road uniform dating to the early 1950s. The smile on Teddy Ballgame's glowing face is infectous in this shot. After serving three years during World War II as a pilot with the U.S. Navy and Marine Corps, Williams was called upon again in 1952 to serve during the Korean War.

The reverse is dated "July 11 - 1952" in black pen, but Ted was in the middle of his your of duty at that time. Thus, it was likely taken in 1951, early in '52 (he played in six games in April before leaving the team), or upon hisn return in 1953. Sourced from the Hillerich & Bradsby archives, it has their initials in pencil on the upper left. His name is written twice in blue pen. Perfectly centered within clean white borders, this is one of the finest (and certainly happiest) portraits of the Splendid Splinter in the market. Condition is flawless.
