Brooklyn and Los Angeles Dodgers great Duke Snider was the team’s hard-hitting center fielder from 1947 until 1962. His career batting average was .295, he walloped a total of 407 home runs and was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1980. His longtime nickname was “The Duke of Flatbush.”
This lot includes one of Snider’s game-used equipment bags from the 1950s. Showing plenty of wear, tear and staining on the bottom, the Dodgers blue bag measures 24” long by 18” wide and includes “Dodgers” and a stamped No. 4 (Snider’s uniform number) in white on either end. The actual zipper handle is included separately. Snider signed and inscribed the bag in black marker on one end: “Edwin ‘Duke’ Snider Brooklyn Dodgers.” A very unique piece of baseball memorabilia from one of the Dodgers’ most beloved players.
