The 1949 season witnessed the first of the Yankees record five World Championships. A significant factor in the team's success was the play of catcher Yogi Berra, who averaged 26 home runs and 101 RBI over those five years. Offered here is an important autographed item that commemorates the start of that historic juggernaut: Yogi Berra's official 1949 New York Yankees uniform player's contract. It is dated March 12, 1949 and calls for Berra to receive a salary of $14,000 for the season. It has been signed on the inside in blue ink, "Lawrence Peter Berra", and also includes signatures from AL President William Harridge and Yankees VP George Weiss. The contract has typical horizontal folds and is in excellent condition. Full LOA from PSA/DNA.
