This is the Gold Medal Winner's Diploma issued to Lloyd Butler after he and his team won the Eight Oared Shells competition at the 1948 Summer Olympic Games. The 16" x 22¼" document features a stunning black and white etching of the Olympic rings and wreath with “OLYMPIC GAMES LONDON 1948.” The diploma has been hand-lettered to “Lloyd Butler, United States of America Rowing in Eight Oars with Cox” and contains the signatures of three of the Olympic Games executives. The diploma shows a vertical fold through the center of the document along with light toning and wear to its edges. A great seldom-encountered companion piece to an Olympic gold medal.

LOA from Butler family.
