From 1948, presented here is an iconic Original AP Type I Photograph of baseball and cultural hero Jackie Robinson in a cloud of dust, JACKIE SLIDES INTO HOME, as only he could.
In this image that perfectly captures the essence of Jackie on the ball field, his Brooklyn Dodgers teammate George "Shotgun" Shuba (#8) looks on. What a moment in time, as the catcher (Cubs Bob Scheffing #10) is lunging to tag Jackie and the umpire poised to make the call. We think Jackie is "safe", by the way!
The photo measures 8" X 11 3/4" and has a PSA/DNA LOA and has the customary Type I photo stamping and markings on the back. The image is in fair condition, with some very slight creasing, fading and light ink markings. A small piece from the very lower right corner is missing from the overall image, although it is on the extended border and in no way impacts the photo. Note that the photo is not encapsulated.
