Mid-century baseball advertisements do not get any better than this! Produced in 1948 to advertise Chesterfield cigarettes, This stunning display features some of the game’s biggest stars: Stan Musial who would win that year’s MVP Award with a .376 average and lead the NL in doubles, triples and RBI; Ted Williams who’d lead the AL in double, batting average and slugging; Joe DiMaggio who won his third AL MVP Award the previous season; Reds phenom Ewell Blackwell whose unbeatable whip-like arm earned him 22 wins and the strikeout crown in 1947; and Bob Elliot of the braves, 1947’s NL MVP and whose bat would power Boston to the pennant in 1948. These All-Stars are joined by Bucky Harris, the former Washington Senators star who had piloted the Yankees to their first post-war World Championship in 1947. The player portraits have been flawlessly rendered in bold colors with an electric red and green background. Certainly one of the most attractive and sought after baseball advertisements. The piece measures 24"x25" and his been professionally mounted and framed.
