When many discuss the famous big men of the Lakers they think of Wilt, Kareem and Shaq. It all started in 1948 though, with this HOF big man of the Lakers, George Mikan. Mikan is known as the pioneer of the modern age of basketball. He was the original center, who scored 11,764 points, an average of 22.6 per game, retired as the all-time leading scorer and averaged 13.4 rebounds and 2.8 assists in 520 NBL, BAA and NBA games. This 1948 Bowman Rookie is graded a PSA EX-MT 6 which is a very high grade for this particular card and set. This example shows great color and centering for a 71 year old card...
