This is an absolutely wonderful example of a late 1940's full uniform, a blazing jersey and pants from Chicago Cubs journeyman pitcher Doyle Lade, who pitched for the Cubbies from 1946-50, earning a 25-29 lifetime mark with a 4.39 ERA. The Size 44 wool shirt has a Wilson tag on the collar alongside a My & Halas Ince. Chicago tag, both directly above a felt tag with "Lade" embroidered in black stitching. A small "48" flap tag appears on the inside of the front-left tail. On the back Lade's No. 23 in blue felt is affixed; the iconic Cubs "C" emblem patch is sewn to the front left breast. Virtually all elements of the jersey are in stunning condition, showing game use but boasting a presentation that is likely unmatched by 1940's material anywhere. The pants nicely match the jersey, showing game use but remaining basically problem free. The pants, with the only difference being the Size 38, have essentially the same configuration of tagging as the shirt except that the three tags and "Lade" embroidery are side-by-side rather than stacked. A "48" embroidered flap tag appears on the inside section of the (working) zipper. This is truly a superb and rare artifact in outstanding condition.
