Red Barrett was a right-handed pitcher who spent 11 years in the major leagues and played for the St. Louis Cardinals in both 1945 and ’46. He racked up a total of 69 wins throughout his career with 21 of those coming with the Cardinals in 1945. This lot includes Barrett’s Cardinals’ game-worn cap from that memorable season. The two-tone cap from manufacturer Coane out of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, features a Navy blue top with red bill, “STL” logo and button on top and shows considerable wear. His uniform No. 6 is written in faded black ink on the underside of the red bill and the size of the cap is unknown. This cap was formerly part of the famed Barry Halper collection. When it was last sold at auction the cap was accompanied by a letter from the Barrett family attesting to it's authenticity that has since been misplaced.
