The Bronx Bombers -- without the services of Joe DiMaggio who enlisted in the U.S. Air Force until '46 -- had another glorious season, winning the AL pennant and taking out the Cardinals in the Fall Classic. Among the 27 autographs are Hall of Famers Earle Combs (coach), Bill Dickey and Joe Gordon as well as Ernie "Tiny" Bonham, Tommy Byrne, Jim Turner, Nick Etten, Atley Donald, Bill Johnson, Frank Crosetti, Spud Chandler, Charlie Keller, Rollie Hemsley (SS), Hank Bowory, Johnny Murphy, Johnny Lindell, Russo, Methany, Grimes, Breuer, Weatherly, Wensloff, Schulte (coach) and Zuber. Autographs average 6-7/10 in blue ink on the shellacked ball (VG-EX) with medium toning and several chipped scuff marks. Dated "8/1/43" in unknown hand and sourced from the family of a NYC restaurateur. Three signatures have been deemed Clubhouse: Tuck Stainback, manager Joe McCarthy and Ken Sears.
