On July 8, 1941, the best-of-the-best from each league convened at Detroit’s Briggs Stadium to fight for All-Star Game supremacy. In the bottom of the ninth, the score was 5-3 with the N.L. in the lead when Ted Williams came to the plate after Joe DiMaggio had just brought in a runner but left two on. Williams cranked a fastball over the fence for a legendary walk-off home run to win the game, 7-5.
