Satchel Paige and Josh Gibson were two of the greatest Negro League players in history. Paige was a prolific pitcher who played 10 seasons for the Kansas City Monarchs, while Gibson was a talented backstop and powerful slugger who played the majority of his career for the Homestead Grays. This lot includes a baseball signed by both of the Hall of Famers. Paige signed his name on the north panel in blue ink and added his team name “Kansas City Monarchs.” Gibson signed his name and his team name “Homestead Grays” underneath Paige’s signature and inscription. The baseball, which shows substantial yellowing, unfortunately has had a portion of the baseball cover showing Gibson’s full signature peeled away. Regardless, this is considered one of only two dual-signed baseball by both standouts in existence.
