Remarkable two-page (foldover) letter written on April 11, 1936 by then future Hall of Famer Roger Bresnahan to NL President Ford Frick thanking Mr. Frick for issuance of MLB lifetime pass among other things. Fully handwritten letter reads, “My Dear Mr. Frick, I am in receipt of your beautiful life time pass and want you to know that I am very grateful and appreciate it more than I can tell you in words. It is a beautiful thought in the minds of those who conceived it, and shows clearly that there still is sentiment left in the greatest game in the world. My only regret is that I am not connected with the game in the same way, after spending thirty three years of my life in it. Unfortunately I am out of both Major League circuits and don’t get an opportunity to see many major league people. If in your travels this season you ever hear of an opening for a scout or coach I would appreciate a word from you.

I am lost away from the game. Wishing you and the National league a successful and prosperous season I beg to remain.

Sincerely yours,

Roger Bresnahan.”

A heartfelt and somewhat somber note from one of the great pitchers of his era. Bresnahan passed away in 1944 and his handwritten correspondence is quite scarce. Full LOA from PSA/DNA (Auto. grade: 9).
