Arguably the first great gum issue in baseball card history, the 1933 Goudey series holds company with the 1909-11 T206 and 1952 Topps issues as part of the hobby's "BIG THREE."  Ruth, the games largest figure, is featured on four different variations in the famed set.

Offered is Ruth's card #53 or "yellow background" in a SGC EX 5 holder.  The most challenging of the four Ruth's, the yellow background example was also the first ever offered.  The well preserved example exhibits bright colors and an immaculate picture image of the Bambino.  Sharp corners, white borders and a sharp reverse are all on display. The only thing holding this one back from a higher mark is the slightly favored top to bottom centering.
