Luke Sewell joined his brother Joe on the Cleveland Indians in 1921. While Joe carved out a Hall of Fame career at shortstop, Luke went on to become one of the most respected defensive catchers in the American League. An All-Star in 1937, Sewell would later manage the hapless St. Louis Browns to their one and only pennant in 1944. This 1933 Goudey displays awesome coloration, clean borders and back and near-perfect centering. Graded a PSA NM-MT 8, there is only one example graded higher.
