Offered here is nice grouping of five programs from the 1932 Olympic Games in Los Angeles. Held during the Great Depression, it was the first Olympics to take place in the United States. The host country won 103 medals (41 gold) to lead all nations; however, the global economic crisis prevented many nations and athletes from attending. Included are the following:

(2) Official Xth Olympiad Closing Ceremonies programs (10 cents each) dated Sunday, August 14, 1932. The "Summary of Today's Program" on page 3 lists that day's events as Victory Ceremonies, Equestrian Events, and Closing Ceremonies. Listed inside are all the results leading up to the end of the L.A. Games (which began July 30th), with event winners, winning times/distances, new world records, etc. One of the 32-page programs has a tear on the front cover and some wear on the binding, but is otherwise in great EX-MT overall condition. The other has a small brown stain on the top left of the cover, with less wear along the binding, for an overall NM-MT rating in our book. All pages within each 7.5" by 10.5" program are perfectly intact and tear-free.

(1) Ancient-Modern Events Records program (25 cents) issued in 1932 for the Xth Olympiad. The 6" by 9" blue booklet lists all the Olympic records at that point in time, with additional historical background of the Games as well as relevant information about California and the host city. Aside from a significant puncture on the left corner and some minor staining around the perimeter of the front color from age, it remains in fine EX shape.

(2) Official Pictorial Souvenir programs. These were popular items produced by The Olympic Organizing Committee that are more prevalent in the market. Inside are black and white portrait photos of the important dignitaries responsible for putting on the global sporting event, along with shots of the host city and other historic landmarks in California. The 9.5" by 12.25" green covers with the 1932 L.A. Games emblem and ancient Greek athlete silhouette image remain in decent condition; they are both intact with heavy edge wear and toning on the back sides. The 64 pages inside are well-protected and problem-free.
