In 1928 Lucky Strike chose to produce an ad campaign featuring the best athletes of the era, and jockey Laverne Fator easily made the cut. At the time, Fator was the most successful jockey in the nation, winning title of United States Champion Jockey in 1925 and 1926. Fator rode in four Kentucky Derby’s and would win 1,075 races before his retirement in 1933. This 10”x20” trolly car ad panel shows Fator astride one of his champion thoroughbreds, racing past the famous Lucky Strike logo. The piece shows only light wear and toning from age and the colors remain stunningly vibrant. Professionally framed and mounted, this trolly car ad is a gorgeous example of 1920s American advertising art.
