This Official American League Ban Johnson Baseball has pretty deftly handled the passage of nearly a century, conceding only to a bit of the lightest discoloration and a wee whisper of scuffing. The famed red-and-blue stitching persevered with hardly a discouraging word: signatures of Babe Ruth, Lou Gehrig and at least one other have struggled with the fading that challenges ink over time. The classic Ruth autograph is clearly visible upon close inspection, but Gehrig insists upon a good deal more effort and concentrated scrutiny. A third autograph is faint enough to be easily ignored; there's a bit of smudging that occurred on the trademark stamp that ends up deviling nothing more than the trademark.
