From the height of their reign together, the offered baseball bears the signatures of the greatest slugging duo ever featured in a single lineup. Manufacturer's markings on this OAL (Johnson) ball indicate it could only be from 1927. The style of signatures presented by Ruth and Gehrig add credence to this. Babe has signed his customary sweet spot position with a beautiful and large signature in dark black ink. Gehrig has added his signature to the panel west of Ruth's in the same black ink. Ruth’s signature rates a strong 8 out of 10 while Gehrig’s displays impressively at the 7/10 level. The ball shows some minor soiling and general surface wear serving more to add character than detract from it’s superb eye appeal. Given the overall quality and date of origin, this stands among the finer Ruth/Gehrig combos in the hobby.
