Widely considered to be the first agent in professional sports, Christy Walsh was responsible for sending tokens of appreciation to various workers that took care of his prized superstar. The presented item certainly is a valuable token; a single-signed OAL (Johnson) Babe Ruth baseball that was game-used in the 1923 World Series. The ball is screwed into and sits atop a curved base so that it can be properly displayed. Imprinted on the top of the ball is "Compliments of Christy Walsh" and the recipient's name "V. L. Bedell", while "Ball Used in World Series 1923 Giants vs. Yankees" is printed on the side. The ball shows some signs of used and has darkened with age. However, the signature and inscription from Ruth is in clear black ink: " To V. L. Bedell Thanks for a wonderful trip From Babe Ruth 1924." Full LOA from JSA.
