Presented here is a classic 6.5" by 8/5" original photo of New York Yankees manager Miller Huggins and team owner Jacob Ruppert on the field at the Polo Grounds before the first game of the 1922 World Series. It was the Yankees' second World Series appearance, and despite the presence of Babe Ruth, the Yanks would be swept by the Giants in four games. This photo reflects the close partnership between Ruppert and his manager upon which the foundation of the great Yankees dynasty of the 1920s and early 1930s was built.
The subjects remains crystal clear and the grass bottom area has the slightest bit of fading from light exposure. The creamy white borders are quite clean, the edges are mostly smooth, the corners slightly rounded, and there is some tape on the bottom and lower right margins. The back has "Paul Thompson" and "The Ring, Inc." stamps along with “with Ruppert” and “Col Jacob Ruppert” in pencil. The original caption slug is affixed. Oustanding piece of photography. Encapsulated Type 1 by PSA/DNA.
