Kenesaw Mountain Landis was the judge, jury and executioner when he suspended Babe Ruth and Bob Meusel for six weeks in 1922 for taking part in exhibition contents the previous season. The offered image captured by Paul Thompson features a notation on the reverse that describes the frontal scene, “Umpire Chill & Owen reinstate Ruth & Meusel to their places on the field.” The 7-1/2” by 9-1/4” image features superb contrast and clarity. Multiple stampings on reverse include Thompson’s credit stamp. Beautiful NM condition.
