This nicely centered card features a crystal clear photographic image of the Chicago Black Sox outfielder Joe Jackson from the extremely rare 1920 Holsum Bread issue. The illiterate and tragic Jackson, a sure fire Hall of Fame member, took the gamblers money yet was the White Sox best player in the infamous 1919 World Series, Batting .375, scoring 5 runs while driving in 3. He hit the team's only home run while playing error free ball in the outfield. Card presents VG or better looking corners. Centering measures 55/45 top to bottom and about the same side to side. The front would be very clean but for some very, very light back print residue from the preceding card sheet which occurred during the original printing. The back is very clean. A few very light creases do not disrupt the front surface paper. The "MK" qualifier is the result of a faint notation "PUT OUT OF BASEBALL" in light pencil written at the top left corner of the card by the original owner. This newly discovered example is the highest graded of the 2 Holsum Bread Joe Jackson cards graded by PSA. (The PR PSA 1 sold for $19,617.80 in 2010). 1920 Holsum Bread cards can be distinguished from the similar 1921 Holsum Bread issue by the printing on the back.(larger spacing between H. WEIL BAKING COMPANY). PSA does not distinguish between the two when grading this issue.
