Great looking, well centered VG-EX SGC 40 #80 Rogers Hornsby Rookie card from the 1917 Collins-McCarthy San Francisco regional candy issue. Hornsby was the greatest right hand batter in the history of baseball, retiring with a .358 lifetime average. Winner of 7 National League Batting titles, from 1921 through 1925 Hornsby averaged over .400 a season with a modern day record of .424. Collins-McCarthy is more well known as the makes of the popular Zeenut Pacific Coast League cards for over 25 years. The offered card features a strong black & white photo image of Hornsby throwing the ball. Front is very clean with the back also clean. Corners about VG-EX overall. About 55/45 centering side to side and a little better top to bottom. A very desirable rookie card from one of the greatest batters in the history of baseball!
