Scarce 1916 World Series program for the games played at Braves Field in Boston between the Boston Red Sox and visiting Brooklyn Dodgers. The games were played at Braves Field instead of the very new Fenway Park to handle the expected larger crowds. Cover features portrait photos of team owners Charles Ebbets and Joseph Lanning as well as Managers Bill Carrigan and Wilbert Robinson. Program has been neatly scored in pencil for the opening Game 1, a 6-5 Red Sox victory. Boston would go on to win the World Series in 5 games 4-1, with a very young Babe Ruth pitching a 14 inning, 2-1 complete game victory for Boston in Game 2. Ruth had won 23 games during the regular season with an American League leading 1.75 ERA. Inside pages feature team photos of both teams as well as loads of interesting period ads. Back page has another ad for sweaters that features an additional Red Sox team photo. Program has heavy vertical crease down the center with a few other light creases. Spine split from bottom to first staple but rest of the spine tight. Some light soiling/foxing to both covers. All things consider a very desirable program to Babe Ruth's first World Series as a major contributor after having one at bat as a pinch hitter the year before.
