ADDENDUM: This ball comes with a full LOA from PSA/DNA.

Ed Sweeney was a catcher who spent eight seasons with the New York Highlanders/Yankees franchise from 1908-15. His best stretch was 1912-13 when he batted .267 with 187 hits, 70 RBI and 72 runs scored. He broke into the big leagues at the age of 19 years old and left his mark as a speedy backstop who still holds the Yankees' single-season record for most stolen bases by a catcher (19 in 1914). Offered here is an extremely scarce Ed Sweeney autographed baseball with an added "Sept 4 / 1914" dated inscription. Signed on a side panel in still legible 5/10 black ink, the OAL ball (most likely Ban Johnson based on the blue colored label and blue-and-red stitches) exhibits heavy soiling, moderate spot toning and some white scuff marks. Full LOA from PSA/DNA.
