The American Tobacco Co. spared no expense in the production of their 1911 series that came to be known as T205s. Known for their bright color, superbly detailed portraits, and gold metallic-like borders, their artistry broke new ground. Three leagues are represented in the series (AL, NL and Minor Leaguers) distinguished by separate design elements such as different frame motifs and the utilization of all the Major League Team emblems and mascots. The issue presents many challenges to modern day collectors including many printing variations and their highly condition sensitive nature.

Presented here is a magnificent looking, very evenly matched 1911 T205 Gold Border complete set with almost every card appearing to fall into the EX-MT to NM or better category. When assembled long ago attention to detail was carefully followed with most cards having superior color, clear in-focus images, and clean ad backs. This set was once a fixture in the legendary Jim Copeland Sports collection, auction by Sotheby's back in 1991. At first glance most of the cards appear to be in a natural, unaltered state but once under a loop tiny color touches can be seen to virtually all the card corners. From the backs of the cards one can see that this was overkill on many as the cards themselves were already in outstanding condition. We have scanned all the key cards included in the set. Check out both the fronts and backs and you can see what we mean. This an exceptional set for the collector that values eye appeal above all else.
