Featured here is a spectacular 1910 E98 Frank Chance graded NM/MT+ 8.5 by SGC. The 1910 E98 issue is one of the scarcest and most appreciated by pre-war card collectors. Produced by an unknown manufacturer with a design similar to Standard Caramel sets of the period, the 30-card checklist includes 17 Hall of Famers with a colorized player portrayal and a white border. Each card measures 1-1/2" by 2-3/4" and comes in one of four different color backgrounds: red, blue, orange or green.

Frank Chance, known as "The Peerless Leader," was a prominent player-manager during the Deadball Era, spending msot of his career with the Chicago Orphans/Cubs franchise where he helped lead them to two World Series titles (before a 107-year drought). This high-grade example showcases a vibrant red background behind Chance mid-swing. The card features snowy-white borders, sharp corners, and NM-MT centering. The SGC population reports lists 70 total (among all color backgrounds) with only six graded 8.5 and just four a half-point higher than that (all Mint 9s). Out of 81 in the PSA pop, there are zero 8.5 examples and only four have achieved a Mint 9 assessment.
