In an era that saw many colorful characters leading wild lifestyles, Mathewson was a model for moral behavior and refused to pitch on Sundays as a devout Christian. Playing most of his career with the NY Giants, Mathewson led his team to six pennants and the 1905 World Series championship. Mathewson had two cards and a variation in the T206 set. The two cards that feature Mathewson with his glove on his chest look very similar, but upon closer examination, you will note they are two separate paintings all together. Offered here is the white cap variation without the team logo on the sleeve. Graded a very nice EX-MT 6 by PSA.
