Offered is one of the finest and most incredible cards of "The Georgia Peach" from the most celebrated sets of the era and issued at the peak of his powers. This copy of the Ty Cobb Bat off Shoulder from the 1909-11 T206 set is a simply breathtaking combination of baseball card artistry and condition.
A dazzling crystal clear image of the hall of fame Detroit Tiger in his prime emanates from this masterpiece. Issued two years before Cobb had begun his incredible feat of 12 AL batting titles in 13 seasons, this cards superior color immediately commands attention. Cobb's image is flawlessly rendered in vivid detail, and the entire scene is framed by clean white borders. The Piedmont back is superior to almost all copies we've come across in recent years. Corners are not the sharpest we've ever seen but they do not deter from the overall eye appeal on this rare EX MT copy. The magnitude of this opportunity cannot be overstated. There are only three copies graded EX MT by PSA with none graded higher. Combining the SGC and PSA pop reports still doesn't move the importance of scarcity very far as there are a total of five EX MT examples graded between the two services and only one graded higher by SGC. A very important card for any serious vintage collection.
