In an effort to promote Babe Ruth as well as other leading baseball players from the 1920s, Christy Walsh, Ruth’s super-agent, developed the All-America Board of Baseball. Impressive certificates were issued to deserving ballplayers with Ruth's signature, along with those of a board of sports writers, until Ruth's death in 1948. Two years later, Walsh revived the tradition and issued certificates to the 50-Year (1900-1950) baseball team and engaged the legendary former manager and team owner Connie Mack to be the lead signatory. It was only fitting that a member of this "Baseball's Greatest Lineup" be Babe Ruth himself. The Sultan of Swat was awarded the over-sized, 12" wide x 16" high certificate posthumously.
Includes a Letter of Provenance from the Helms Athletic Foundation/LA84 Collection.
Pre-certified by PSA/DNA.
