The mysterious origin of these intricately designed die-cut cards has been a subject of debate since their release in 1888. Some believe that these cards were initially part of a book, issued in their unique die-cut fashion. Each card features a player, meticulously outlined, that can be punched out and displayed as a standalone figure.

Among the notable cards from this series is one featuring Charles Comiskey, a renowned Hall of Famer who played for St. Louis. SGC, a leading authority in card grading, has given this particular example the highest grade across PSA and SGC population reports. The EX 5 example is very clean, going up against notoriously difficult standards as a die-cut card.

1888 Scrapps Tobacco Charles Comiskey – SGC EX 5 (Highest Graded Among PSA or SGC Pop Reports!)
