Copyright 1887, Liebenroth Von Auw. The pictorial title page depicts a standing baseball team surrounding a seated coach/manager, with patriotic motifs above and crossed bats and equipment below. The illustrations inside are beautifully done and provide field level images of a Wild Pitch, Fly Ball, Foul Ball, runner caught between the bases and a Home Run. Each of the pages are separate from one another and show fairly heavy soiling throughout. The back side of each page (except Home Run) served as a scrap book at one time with each one having evidence of removal on them. Various degrees of paper loss, glue residue and staining are present on each due to removal of unknown material. Luckily, the images contained on the pages are still quite vivid and attractive. The last three pages suffer from paper loss at the bottom as well as creasing and wear to the outside edges of all pages included. Even with the significant condition issues noted, these scarce, early, over-sized lithographs give a colorful and detailed glimpse at early baseball in America.
