Extremely rare 19th Century tobacco issue featuring only members of the American Association St. Louis Browns. The offered example is of Bob Caruthers, a stand out pitcher during his brief 9 year career. He won 40 games twice and finished with an overall 218-97 won-lost record. Light photo still gives good facial detail with most of the printing visible. Crease free. All corners VG-EX. Main problem is vintage glue residue and 3/8" by 5/8" tear to top paper on back. Very rare type card which most collectors probably have never seen in person. To date, PSA has only graded one card from this issue.
