The very name "Cap Anson" is synonymous with 19th century baseball. The slugging first baseman-manager of the Chicago White Stockings batted better than .300 nineteen times in his 22 year major league career. Upon retiring from the field, his name stood atop the record books in numerous statistical categories, including games, hits, at-bats, doubles, RBI's and runs. As a manager, Anson guided his club to fifteen first-division finishes and five pennants. This example of his most sought after card features clean surfaces and very strong corners. The colorful artwork on the front makes this, arguably, the most visually appealing card of the era featuring the marquee player of his generation.
