O'Brien's career was a brief five years, beginning with few games in the Union Association in 1884 and ending in 1890 with the American Association Brooklyn-Baltimore entry. During that short span he did have one shining moment. In the year of this issue, 1887, his 19 Home Runs edged out Hall of Famer Roger Connor to lead the National League.
