In this lot, we present a creative framed display honoring the great Roberto Clemente as we approach the 50th anniversary of his death. The centerpiece is a Clemente signed Mellon bank check dated 10/16/1972, just two and a half months before the tragic plane crash in his native Puerto Rico. Encapsulated by PSA/DNA with an 8 autograph grade, the slabbed check is shadowboxed below two 2001 Upper Deck SP Legendary Cuts memorabilia nostalgia cards (both graded PSA NM-MT 8) showcasing a Clemente game-used bat piece and a Clemente game-worn jersey swatch. The gold borders and black background within the display matte have a fitting Pittsburgh Pirates theme. The 1" thick wooden frame measures 13.5" wide by 16.5" tall.
